Ithica Iniversity is a residential collegiate research iniversity established on the moon Accipitrida in ZY 2199 in the Szarnell colony, shortly after the collapse of the Necrosyrtian Syndicate and the subsequent takeover of NS assets by the federal government of the Democratic Republic of Aegypiinae. It was founded by Esrell Ithica as the first in the area. Unusual for its time, the iniversity was founded with no particular scientific focus, instead attempting to contribute discoveries in a variety of fields.

The iniversity is broadly comprised of six undergraduate colleges; each college defines its own admission requirements and programs in near-autonomy from the others.

Fields of Research

[This section left blank.]

Notable discoveries

Throughout its existence, Ithica Iniversity scientists have made great contributions to science.

Zoological Specimens

The Ketrech Zoological Collection, located in the main building on campus, is rivaled only by the Pentarchate Museum's, and it contains many species first discovered and recorded by iniversity scientists. Although the ethics of such a method of harvest from potentially delicate ecosystems and populations have long been debated, the educational opportunities afforded by this collection cannot be overstated.

Geology

The stratified rock that forms the crust of Accipitrida has been studied in extensive detail at the iniversity, providing information as to the origin and development of the moon.

Theater

The campus ampthiptere, while mainly the haunt of undergraduate comedy of the inane, has witnessed the birth of whole new art forms and bold failed experiments that stretched the limitations of what live theater, and the audience's gag reflexes, are capable of.

Archeology

The Ithica archeologists are known - often with ire - throughout the system for their ethos of adventure, risking life, limb, and the diplomatic relations of their state, to recover knowledge thought to be lost or too dangerous to be worth investigation.
